FORE joins B Corp movement and gains recognition as sustainability leader

FORE Partnership, the ethical investor developing TBC, has been recognised as an industry leader by a global survey that rates real estate companies by their commitment to sustainability and creating positive social impact.

FORE achieved a 5-star rating in the 2020 GRESB Real Estate Assessment – the property industry benchmark that ranks over 1,200 funds spanning some $5.3 trillion in property value – and was recognised as an industry champion after taking the top spot in a number of key categories.

The 5-star rating follows FORE achieving official certification as a B Corporation, putting it among a very select group of UK real estate businesses to have meet the rigorous social and environmental standards required to achieve B Corp status. As part of this process, FORE has legally committed to pursuing purpose alongside profit.

FORE participates annually in the GRESB benchmarking process, which provides comparable and reliable data on the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance of its investments. The assessment supports FORE’s sustainability and social impact agenda, helping to drive decision-making that leads to a more sustainable real estate industry.

Achieving B Corp certification, which is administered by not-for-profit organisation B Lab, follows on from FORE’s industry-leading commitment to achieve zero carbon by 2025 – five years ahead of the wider industry target set by the World Green Building Council and well in advance of the UK’s 2050 goal – and underscores FORE’s commitment to using real estate as a tool to generate positive social and environmental impact.

As a B Corp, FORE joins a global community of firms committed to harnessing the power of business to help address society’s greatest challenges and to build a more inclusive economy. There are currently over 400 certified B Corps in the UK and more than 3,500 worldwide, including well-known brands such as The Guardian, Innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop, and Abel & Cole. But only a select few companies within the property industry have obtained the status.

Basil Demeroutis, Managing Partner, FORE Partnership, said: “Ever since we set up the business nearly a decade ago, our vision has been to achieve higher investment returns in real estate by supercharging positive social and environmental change.

“By achieving this top ranking in the annual GRESB assessment demonstrates we are very much on the right track. This follows our certification as a B Corporation, which underlines our mission to generate positive environmental and social impact through the work that we do. We’re hugely proud to be joining other passionate business leaders worldwide that are driving a global movement of people using businesses as a force for good.”

Charmian Love, Co-Founder and Chair of B Lab UK, added: “We are delighted to welcome FORE Partnership to the B Corporation community. We are a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates, who believe companies can and must be a force for good. We know that FORE Partnership is going to be a fantastic addition to the B Corp community and will seize this moment to drive forward a more moral kind of new economic system.”
